How is the 'Eragon' series similar to the 'The Wheel of Time' series? In: Eragon, Wheel of Time |
The Wheel of Time series is 13 books long (and counting) and is vaguely a LOTR knock-off but with more mages and people in different coded cloaks and their adventures battling and trekking about a made up medival type other world much like in Lord of the Rings and many other fairy tales etc. though I've heard it's got rave reviews from those with the patience to get through all of them (they're like 400-500 pages a piece easy)
Whereas Eragon is also set in a middle ages other world with quests etc. but it's about "Dragon riders" who are destined to meet and ride their fated Dragons and one of the Dragon riders turns evil and starts killing the other dragon riders which also kills the Dragon that they ride because there's some sort of whackajamma human-reptile soulmate bond thing going on there and this kid gets sucked into this war and this adventures. If you liked one you'd probably like the other both are very steeped in fantasy and good series. Wheel of Time just takes longer.
Along those lines I'd also reccomend the Dune series, Trickster's Choice & Trickster's Queen, East (based off of the original norwegian folktale east of the sun and west of the moon)
