Tanach) more literally, but such as to support modern Jewish belief. Christians interpret the same Old Testament as foreshadowing the coming of Jesus. As Christian belief evolved, so did the interpretation of the Bible, both the Old Testament and the New Testament.
It is common to read of a biblical passage having a certain meaning but, when you read it with the ordinary meaning of the words, you do not see that supposed meaning anywhere. That is what biblical interpretation is about.

Hence the numerous sects in both Judaism and Christianity.The Bible interprets itself if one allows it to. It is like a giant jigsaw puzzle with answers in different places. Some answers are just not revealed at the moment. It requires intense study/searching with prayers for understanding to get the full meaning of Scripture - and there are numerous levels of meaning behind all Scripture for each individual reader. And it usually is revealed to the 'least' of mankind and not the elite or well educated.
