When you hit the drum, the tightness of the drum head and the shape of the drum as well as what it is made out of play into how it will sound. Basically, all you are doing by hitting the drum is causing very rapid vibrations in the air, loud ones, and once they hit your ear drum they are translated by your brain as sound. Again, the different elements of the drum are what make the certain tones of the drum.
For a snare drum, on the bottom head there are loose wires that pop back up after the air pressure in the cavity of the drum returns to normal which give it that "tap" sound when you play it.
Hope this helps!
The drum kit is of the percussion family meaning it is normally struck to produce the sound. So the initial impact of a drum stick to drum head creates the sound, the shell of the drum resonates and amplifies the sound and create its tone, Snare drums are the same but have a set of wires to the bottom head that when the drum is struck makes the wires jump off the head for a split second producing the "crack" sound when they snap back into place, when played lightly the snare wires vibrate and produce a buzzing type sound. Other sounds from a drum kit are produced by technique; rim shot, sticking, brush work all produce a range of sounds from the drums.
The vibration of the Stick hitting the Drum
It all depends on how a drum is made, and what it is made of. For example, a small steel drum is going to be loud and high pitched, while a large drum made of a soft wood such as birch is going to be low pitched and will give off less volume.
I think it sounds like a bird but it is a DRUM SOUND
a drum roll.
There's no head on a tugo. A tugo is an acoustic guitar with no sound hole, that's played by hitting the body. It's made entirely of wood.
A bass drum creates a very low and deep sound. The bigger the bass drum, the lower and deeper the pitch.

there are little men with sticks inside the drum and they hit the drums with their sticks
They are typically made out of some type of animal hide. It can be cow or pig. The sound can change from drum to drum. The shells of the drums can be made from anything.

The vibrations (sound) of a beaten drum are sound waves. The frequency, of the produced sound waves, is what determines the pitch of the drum.
