Although water is everywhere in our life, water is having some unusual chemical properties that make us love it so much.
Normally the solid state of a compound is denser than its liquid state. But ice is less dense than its liquid state - water. It's due to the regular arrangement of water molecule via hydrogen bonds. In our environment, if water freeze and sink at the bottom of lake and ocean, difficult in thawing will cause negative consequences for aquatic life.
Besides, when comparing water molecule to others molecule with similar sizes, water has unusually higher boiling point. Water has hydrogen bond as intermolecular forces. It require more energy to break hydrogen bond to form water vapor.
If water would have low boiling point, we will have water vapor as abundant gas instead of nitrogen in our atmosphere. If water would have low boiling point, 3/4 of earth surface is land instead of ocean. Our holiday won't be beautiful without cloud, ocean and snow, right?
