Schools are actually a workplace for teachers. Different workplaces have different safety guidelines and measures because there are different issues and hazards depending on the workplace. Construction areas may have more hazards than schools since there are fall hazards, chemical hazards, etc.
Schools are different from most other workplaces because they have lots of people present who are not employees and who may be unaware of hazards that can be present. Often the students are young and rambunctious, not thinking about possible consequences of what they do.
So school safety is about ensuring the safety of students attending the school and its functions, while workplace safety is about ensuring the safety of people who are paid for their work (employees), wherever they happen to work.
Many different events, at different times, were turning points for workplace safety. The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire was one of them.
School safety focuses on the safety of children in school as they go about the educational process. It must consider that growing children are a) more in need of strict direction than adults, b) more susceptible to many hazardous chemicals than are adults, and c) parents have virtually no tolerance for their children being put at risk of injury, except if they are engaged in sports activity. Workplace Safety focuses on the safety of the working adult who is being paid by an employer to perform a task. Since teachers and administrators are adults working for payment in a workplace, there is some overlap between workplace safety and school safely, but the two areas are mostly distinct. School safety focuses on the children while workplace safety focuses on the adults.
The safety hazards in a workplace will be very different depending on what is being done in the particular workplace. Without that information, hazards can only be guessed at, not listed with any degree of confidence.

Different places have different administering agencies for them like in the USA, OSHA or Occupational Safety and Health Administration takes care of the health and safety of not just workers and supervisors but all people that may be involved in the workplace process (even clients/customers)
