How likely is it for someone to be pregnant after missing two birth control pills?

Answer:

Answer

When I taking the pill the doctors told me that the one thing that sucks about the pill is when you even miss ONE day it can INCREASE the change of pregnancy.

If you miss a pill and you don't want a baby don't have sex until you have been back on the pill for one week to a month.

Answer

It is very likely, right now I think I am pregnant and I'm in between thinking that it is because of the pill.

Would everyone take a deep breath and think rationally about this? And this goes out to the writer of the second answer: chill out. You don't know the circumstances of the person who asked the question; you don't even know if you yourself are pregnant. Don't lay all your stress on her. That's irresponsible and unfair, even for a casual online community like this one.

Now for the nitty gritty:

For the original poster, my response is that it really depends on which week of your pack you missed these two pills. The highest-risk week is hands-down, Week 1. This is because when you start Week 1, you've already had a full 7 days of not ingesting any hormones. Even if you've taken your sugar-free pills ever so diiligently, they don't actually contain any hormones. Now 7 days of being pill-free is completely fine. This is why almost every pill on the market is designed with a 7-day pill-free break. Research has shown that natural hormone levels (i.e. not the synthetic ones contained in your pill) do rise a little during the break but definitely not enough to re-trigger ovulation.

The bad news is, if you miss more than 7 days, then you're taking a gamble. So if the pills that you missed were in Week 1 of your pack, then think about which number pills they were. If they were Day 1 and Day 2 of Week 1, I'd say that you have more cause to be concerned. But even then, stay calm and be rational. Talk to your doctor and keep a cool head.

If those two pills were missed after you've already taken 7 pills consecutively, then you have a lot more room to breathe. It takes 7 pills on average to establish full contraceptive effectiveness. So with these two pills that you missed, yeah you lose a little headway but make them up and you should be fine. Good luck!
