It depends on your surgeon. Usually it depends also on which leg was done. Takes longer before you can drive if your right knee was done, usually 6 weeks post surgery. With left leg 4 weeks post surgery.

More Information: I will be getting a "total knee" replacement soon and my doctor said I would not be driving for at least 4 weeks. I have been told I would be using a walker for 3-4 weeks and a walking cane for 1-2 weeks more. Hope this info helps with your decision.

I would comply with the doctor's instructons. The rehabilitation varies from patient to patient so your doctor would know best the time that driving is advised for each patient.

I drive semi truck for a living and need my left knee replaced, and I am wondering if I can still drive semi truck after the knee replacement?

Returning to work or driving a truck after knee replacement depends on your knee replacement recovery and your willingness to participate in your rehab program.

Having said that I can say in 4-6 weeks you can go back to work and also drive truck but keep in mind that you have to avoid long driving session and if not do some ankle pumps while driving.

Also for truck drivers who want to return to work soon, they have to be ready for some kind of swelling around knees and ankle and please do not be worried about it.

Hope it helps.

May depend on the rate of recovery from the operation. A doctor would be the best adviser, after physical examination.

Do you need a partial or total knee replacement if there's no meniscus left in your knee?

Neither, unless it leads to further complications. The miniscus is the cartilage that cushions the knee joint and without it you may experience pain when there is pressure on the bone because that cushion is gone, but only the long term effects of this pressure could lead to a knee replacement.

Why do you get water on the knee after a knee replacement?

Water on the knee after knee replacement is a very common problem that many patient face. It can be common or uncommon depending on severity of the swelling and time frame. Immediately following surgery it would appear as if your knee joint is swollen that is because of the underlying tissue has been traumatized. In knee replacement surgery the surgeon has to reach the joint by cutting the muscles so once operation is done the muscles has to be reorganized and that is the cause for swelling. As long as you are not having trouble or it is not causing any trouble to you swelling is normal thing. Hope it helps.
