How long after unprotected sex should you wait to have STD testing?

Answer:
chlamydia/gonorrhea test - wait 3 weeks after exposure since it takes that long to show up on this type of test

HIV blood test - takes 3-6 months for a conclusive result

If you are having std symptoms soon after exposure, you can still go to the dr for a physical exam. They can take a culture and examine it under the microscope for things like bacterial vaginosis, yeast infections etc. They can also examine lesions to determine if you may have warts or herpes

Answer

As soon as possible. Also, follow up with your doctor as soon as possible. In the future, don't have unprotected sex.

Answer

It depends on the std. Talk to a doctor, there are several tests for several different STDs, some are bacterial & are easy to test for. Some are viral and are harder to test for and have a much longer period before your body produces antibodies (the things that tests look for.) Some viral tests are very expensive.

Answer

You should get tested immediatly. You should also go back in 6 months and get tested again. And then 1 year later you should go back to be tested again. Some STD's will appear very soon, and some take time to show up.
