Its possible to ovulate if you miss one of your birth control pills. So, basically anytime after you stop taking the pill you can become pregnant. Also, there is no evidence that getting pregnant right after stopping the pill causes any defects.
If you're trying to get pregnant, most doctors recommend you use an alternate form of birth control for at least 6-8 weeks after going off birth control pills. This is because the residual hormones in your system may have an adverse effect on your baby. NOTE: Once you stop taking the birth control pill, the hormones are out of your body. #2, the hormones in birth control pills have no adverse effects on a baby.
It's physically possible to get pregnant after missing as little as one birth control pill. You don't even have to be off them entirely. Also, be aware that some antibiotics and over the counter medications may make your birth control pills ineffective at preventing pregnancy.
- I stopped taking the pill 7 weeks ago and now I am 6 weeks pregnant. It is possible to get pregnant as soon as you are off the pil, I think it just depends on your body!
- I have been on the pills for 17 years with one break in between. I stopped taking the pills completely in December, and had regular cycles three months after. However, the fourth month has arrived and I waited for my cycle to come, but I am two weeks late. I took a pregnancy and it was positive. Therefore, I think it depends on the female's body. Every body is different in some way. B-} Rae
- I stopped taking my birth control a little over a month ago. I have been taking tests, and so far they have all been negative. About a week ago i had really bad cramps in the lower part of my stomach, and it hurt a lot more during intercourse, then it just went away the next morning. could this be a sign of anything? I have a 3 year old daughter, and we are trying for another. I am getting married next July, so i would really want this process to be over by the summer, so i could have the baby before the wedding. any tips?
- I was on birth control for 13 years to control especially heavy periods and I got pregnant 10 days after I stopped taking them, so anything is possible!
- It is possible to get pregnant right away. For most people it takes at least a few months no matter what. But it is recommended to have at least one regular period off the pill before trying to get pregnant.
- I conceived within three weeks of stopping the pill. I started having really bad cramps and pains (especially after intercourse) and because of that I was going to start back on the pill after my next period started. Well it never came! Seems my son was meant to be!
- I went off bcps in May 05. I never had irregular periods before starting bcps. After stopping, I have very irregular, (sometimes twice a month) periods. After 10 months, I finally found out I was pregnant. I miscarried 1 week later at 6 weeks. So, it has been extremely hard on us.
- i have been off the pill for two years now and i am still not pregnant but my friend got pregnant after 6 months of being off the pill.. So I guess it really depends on your body and how fertile you and your spouse are. I have heard that using an ovulation predictor will help.
- I have been off the pill for over two months and still haven't even gotten a period! (I know I'm not pregnant because I test once a week just in case - I'm just not ovulating yet.)
- Well let me give an idea. My aunt was taking pills and she stopped in the next 2 days when she has the ovulation she got prenant, it is depend of the woman no of the pill.
- One of my friends got pregnant after being off of the pill for a week. It was very unexpected.
- Some women ovulate and get pregnant within 2 weeks of stopping the pill. With others it Amy take a few months. Some will say you can get pregnant the next month but this is not likely. It took me over a year after I stoped the pill. You should start charting your cycles and this will give you a good idea of when you are ovulateing.
- I heard it can take up to a year to get pregnant.
- I was on the pill for about 3 years until I got married 5 months ago. My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant ever since including having sex almost everyday and nothing has happened so it really does depend on your body
- I have been off the pill for over a month. my boyfriend and i have sex on a regular basis, 2 to 3 times a day, in hopes of becoming pregnant. I am still not pregnant, and i can't wait. any advice?
- My husband and i are just now starting to try and get pregnant, I went to my doctor and he said that having sex more than one every other day can some times prevent conceiving, the male needs to regain the sperm, and it definitly depends on your body type and his sperm count.
- Stopped pill 48 days ago had period on 48th day so when can i get pregnant now
- I stopped the birth control pill in December. I was never on B/C too long. This would be our first child. Its been about 10 months and no pregnancy yet. We try not too think about it and we have been trying to conceive around/on my ovulation days. I spoke to my OBGYN because I'm in my early 20s and I've read in articles to speak to your doctor if you're under 35 and have been trying to conceive for more than 6 months. My periods have also been prolonged, delayed, and recently absent. She did a pap and said everything looks normal (confirmation from some tests). She said its due to my recent weight gain and that just be patient, get in shape, and it WILL happen. But it's disheartening and frustrating that it hasn't happen. I guess just be patient... and if you're still concerned, speak with your doctor.
- I really think it depends on your body. My sister was on the pill for 8 years and got off it when she and here husband decided to have kids. She had 2 false pregnancies within 4 months of being off it. She also had 3 miscarriages. It took two years of being off the pill before she had my neice. She didn't get back on the pill after her, they just used alternative forms of BC. She is now due in the spring with their second child. No miscarrieges or complications this time. The family thinks the original issues stemmed from the Pill. No proof of that but it seems to fit. Again, it depends on your body I think, what pill you are on and how long you've been on it...
- exercise, eat healthy foods and maybe an ovulation test.. It's all about your body and having patients even though you want it to come now it will happen when it happenes. Although prenatal vitamins do not make you more prone to getting pregnant it is very good for your body if you start taking them before you do get pregnant because they are more effective if your body has all of those vitamins before hand and they also prevent your baby from having spina bifida..
