24-48 hours minimally. 72+ hours is ideal for full effect, even with a dose as low as 2 mg. Due to the nature of buprenorphine's (suboxone's active ingrediant) long half life, consecutive doses over a few days will take even longer to clear the system.

∙ 11y agoHonestly I wondered the same thing and this is what I found. I took a half of an N8 (4mg) n 4 hours later took 2 Vic 10s n felt them. All of what majority ppl have said about the 24-32 hour turn around I found to be not so true. Previously tho I've taken a whole N8 and 8-10 hours later did a 30 mg oxycodone n just felt minimal effects. The only time you will put yourself into withdrawal is if u do that opposite. Take a blue (30 mg oxy) followed by a sub u will have worse feelings then if u haven't taken anything at all ( if regular user). Bottom line you wont feel much at all after taking a opiate shortly after suboxen. Remember though too everyone reacts to things different weight age and tolerence depending.

I guess it would be okay for you to take a vicodin after 48 hours of you not taking any suboxone. Suboxone has a long half life and that means it stays in your system for a long period of time. First of all, why would you want to only be on suboxone for a week? suboxone doesn't work in a week. And if it does work for you in a week then why would you want to touch a vicodin again??
Can you take a Vicodin while on Suboxone for a major migraine?
As long as you're not taking massive amounts of the Suboxone (like, more than two 8-mg pills) yes, the Vicodin will still work as a pain killer, even though you won't get high from it. You will probably have to take a double dose of it, though, or even a triple dose, depending on how much Suboxone you are taking. I am on Suboxone and last autumn I had a root canal, and the oral surgeon prescribed Vicodin for me, but I had to take double doses of it to get enough relief from the pain. I also had to cut my Suboxone dose in half (I was taking 8-mgs per day and cut it down to 4). Whatever you do, don't stop taking the Suboxone completely, because if you completely stop taking it you will have to wait until you're in extreme withdrawal from the Vicodin before you start taking Suboxone again. If you stop taking the Suboxone, and then start taking it again before you're in heavy withdrawal from the Vicodin, you will experience the worst, most horrible withdrawal symptoms you can imagine. You will get really, really sick.

yes you can, allthough you will not get any buzz what so ever from the vicodin, so its really a waste of the v's. the vicodin will still have the pain killig effect though. best to wait 24 hours at least after taking the suboxone before you take the v's.
