A person will usually be able to live about 4-6 weeks without food. However there has been some cases where prisoners has lived for as long as 76 days without food.

There is many other factors that decides how long a person will survive. A person with a lot of body fat will survive longer than a person with less body fat. The amount of muscles are also very important.

the human body has been known to last a few weeks, sometimes up to a month, without food(depending on age), but water is far more important. even on a daily basis, by the time a person actually feels thirst, their body is already dehydrated. the necessary amount of water intake depends on temperature, elevation and physical activity. to maintain hydration (without special circumstances), a minimum of two quarts is needed, but under other extremes, two quarts may not be enough to sustain a person for more than two weeks. 3 days without water could be do-able, but the body cannot last more than a week completely without it.
