How long can an individual collect assistance from the government over a life span Food stamps WIC Etc Not including financial aid.?

Answer:
You can get a check called TEA/AFDC (varies in states) for 2 years lifetime MAXIMUM. food stamps do not have a lifetime maximum.. WIC goes till the child turns 5.

The current Federal welfare program is called TANF. That has a maximum of 5 years for a lifetime. That is the cash program. While the Federal Law says that there is a maximum of 5 years, individual states can set their own time limit, as long as it's under 5 years.

There is no maximum time to collect food stamps. If you have income under a certain amount, you are eligible to get food stamps.

WIC (Women, Infants, Children) is for those who have income under a certain level, AND are either pregnant or has a child under 5. The GOP is attempting to cut this program severely (as of July 8, 2011).

Medicaid is a Federal Program that is run by the States. They decide who is eligible to receive it, but it is income based.
