How long can you leave raw eggs out?

If your eggs are in their shell and left on the counter or in their carton on the counter they are just fine. Eggs actually don't have to be refrigerated at all! As long as the eggs aren't "old" eggs, they are just fine. They should be used as of the "used by date" labeled on the carton.

Foods that are left out in room temperature for more than an hour can begin rapid bacterial growth. Our stomach acids can kill some of these bacteria but not all and some types can make you very sick. Keep foods OUT of the danger zone- Above 40°F and below 135°F. Between these temperatures pathogenic bacteria grow very well on our foods.

our government recommends maximum 1 week if refrigerator is working properly (40F or colder).
