depends on the cheese... but a block of extra sharp cheddar with some mold on one edge is still good... just cut the mold off. however, slices of American cheese is a different story. but cheese is what it is---aged.

∙ 12y agoCheese should be stored in paper wrapping, avoid storing in plastic as so the cheese can breath and will not take on the plastic flavor. Put in vegetable or cheese drawer in refrigerator, or if that is not possible than in a covered container.

∙ 14y agoIt depends, hard cheeses last much longer than soft cheeses. Basically, if the cheese is well wrapped it will last between 2-4 weeks in the refrigerator another good sign is if you notice the cheese 'sweating' it is getting old.
