First. it has to be determined whether you are, in fact, eligible under the laws of the state you work in, to receive benefits. Then, after you filed your claim, there is at least a 7 day period, in most states, that they investigate, etc. before checks are issued.

The base period, in most states, is the first 4 quarters of the last 5 complete calendar quarters calculated from when you file. The longer you wait to file, the smaller your benefits will be, as the formulas are based on the wages earned in that time period.

You should always file immediately after losing your job, regardless the reasons for losing it. It's always possible you may qualify for benefits, but you won't get any if you don't apply. The state will determine if the facts warrant your eligibility.

Depends on the state. There should be a void after date on the check. Some states are 90 days, some are a year. If it is expred call your state Unemployment office and they can reissue it.

It takes about 21 days to process the first claim. After that, it takes 1-2 weeks to process each cycle when you refile.

The appeal process can take four to six weeks as well, and it can take thirty days after a reversed disqualification to receive payment.
