How did the North and South handle their disagreement about slavery?

The American regions of the North and South handled their disagreement about slavery (as well as states' rights) through decades of tense political negotiations followed by a four-year-long war. This Civil War resulted in the surrender of the South, the emancipation of America's slaves, and a 'new birth of freedom,' in the words of America's president at the time, Abraham Lincoln.

What were the advantage's that the north had over the south '?

More people, more industry, a navy, President Abraham Lincoln had greater power than President Jefferson Davis. Also the North was fighting to end slavery once and for all. The South was fighting to preserve slavery. England and France, (which had outlawed slavery a long time before the USA Civil War) were never going to help the South win the war to preserve slavery.

Why was the north against slavery in The US?

It wasn't particularly. It was against slavery in the North, mainly because the new industrial factory managers could not use it. They wanted free, mobile skilled labour. There was also the Abolitionist movement - powerful, but not very numerous. In 1861, most Northerners found slavery acceptable, as long as it stayed in its traditional homelands. It was the creation of new slave-states that was the issue, partly because of the political balance between North and South in Congress, and partly ethical - the feeling that slavery was a necessary evil that should not be extended.

Why or How was slavery dangerous to America?

Slavery was an abominable anachonism. It had been outlawed in Europe years ago. It is an obvious violation of human rights and world opinion was against it. It was dangerous to America because it broke up the nation and had to either lead to Civil War , be ended, or split the country into two countries. The nation could not exist for long half-slave and half-free. It might become all-slave and that was no longer possible. There was too much strong anti-slavery feeling in the North. Fugitive slave laws could not be enforced. Then there was the problem of what to do with new states.
