Actually, the average life expectancy of a racing greyhound according to greyhound friends for life (the racing adoption agency) is 12 -15 years. This is quite a larger number than the one above.

They do NOT live to be about 18. The average life expectancy of an Italian Greyhound is 12-15 years. Some Italian Greyhound breeders estimate it at 13 years. For a small dog, they have a shorter life expectancy than some other breeds that are their size.
