Cathode ray tubes have a limited life expectancy but it is very hard to state a time. Most CRTs will show signs of age by showing a softer image than when new. It is quite possible that the quality of image of a CRT television may become relatively poor after only five or six years. Others have been known to keep on working for 15 years or more.

In 2010, CRT televisions are virtually obsolete and repairs to existing ones are becoming ever more expensive. If a CRT television is still working, keep on using it. When it breaks down, that is probably the time to consider changing it for an LCD or plasma television. Before spending money on a new one, it will still be worth having a television repair center look at the faulty CRT because not all repairs are expensive.

How long does a crt monitor last?

Your average CRT should last you a very long time. It will probably last longer than most new flat-panel TVs or monitors. Because I love collection cool and retro things, I actually found an old CRT made exactly in 1985 in somebodies garbage. I took it home and found out that this 25 year old TV has an amazing picture and work perfectly! No lie.

My TV has a yellow tinted screen?

his depends on what type of monitor you are using. If it is a CRT (the big long old one) or a LCD (newer flat screen). If it is a CRT, then the monitor is going bad, and you need to replace it. If it is an LCD, then it is probably just a color setting.
