It takes approximately 36 hours for the sperm to fertilize the egg. That is about 1 day and 1/2. I would say wait at least 1 1/2 or 2 weeks before you take a pregnancy test so the results can come out accurate.

Generally, it takes about 10 to 14 days from the time of conception to accurately detect HCG in the urine. Conception may occur on a certain date however, it can take up to 3 to 4 days for actual implantation to occur. That means that you may have to wait a week to detect hcg at the proper levels.

http://www.coolnurse.com/birthcontrol.htm http://www.crisispregnancy.com/birth-mother/pregnancy-questions.html http://www.epigee.org/guide/medfaq.html Every woman is different, so unfortunately it will be hard for you to get a certain answer on this. Some tests claim they can tell as early as five days before your expected period. If you are regular, that might help. My periods are all over the map, so I would spend two weeks doing pregnancy tests before I knew anything! I never knew when I was approaching my "expected" period. As you've probably read, the tests measuer the level of HCG in your body, a hormone that indicates pregnancy. Some women produce a lot of it early in their pregnancy, but I have heard of others who did not get a positive result until they were well into their first or second trimester! Anyways, don't waste time and worry by testing earlier than three days before your expected period. At that point, buy several tests. If one comes out negative, wait a couple of days or a week to do another (or get a blood test at your doctor after you miss your period). Good luck!

Normally it is around 12 days past ovulation, some women can test accuratley at 9 days past ovulation. Take a sensitive test (the ones that say 5 days before your missed period) and if it is negative, take another one the day after your period is due if it doesn't come incase you implanted late.

* Conception usually occurs about 5-7 days after intercourse * Your most fertile period is about 5 days before ovulation * For most(but not all) women ovulation occurs about 14 days prior to her period. Here is a link to a website that will calculate the probability of your pregnancy: http://www.thepregnancytest.com/ To ensure the best results: * Take the test in the morning, if possible, because your hCG (pregnancy hormone) levels are at it's highest * Don't drink a bunch of fluids before taking the test because it will dilute your urine and can affect the results * Take the test no more than 1 day before expected period. Although some test say that you can see results up to 5 days before your missed period, the percentage of accuracy is very low. * urinate for as long as possible on the foam-like strip * Check the results in the window frame of time suggested by the instructions of the pregnancy test. 4 days before expected period= 51% accurate

3 days before expected period= 82% accurate

2 days before expected period= 90% accurate

1 day before expected period =95% accurate

the day of expected period =99% accurate

About 2 weeks after conception a pregnancy test will be accurate. You should ensure to take the test in the morning when the level of the pregnancy hormone, hCG will be at its highest.

It should only take a few minutes. These tests have instructions with them. Follow them and you will get a correct answer. It may not be the one you want.

It takes about 3 minutes to take a test, and additional five to get the results, so, I'd say, 10 minutes top.
