You have to wait 8 years before you can file Chapter 7 again. (Before the new bankruptcy law passed in 2005, you could file every six years.)

For Chapter 13 reorganization, you can file more often than that, but you can't have more than one case open at the same time.

The rule is the same in any state: 8 years from the date of filing of the previous Chapter 7. That assumes the previous Chapter 7 case went to discharge and was closed in due course.

You can actually file another C. 7 in certain situations, though you will not be entitled to a discharge.

You can also file a Chapter 13 or 11 any time after a Chapter 7 is closed.
