Baby Oil works, and there are products specially designed for getting head lice out
baby oil and vinegar works lice hate grassy item or get dish soup work lol bye lice and fleas
Hi! I used baby oil for my kids hair when treating for headlice and found that it worked fantastically! Not only did it make getting the lice out but also the eggs too! They just slipped out and into the comb they went. Its all i use now.. KrystalI've dealt with many cases of head lice before and baby oil is just a myth. It will not kill the lice. Lice can live in liquids for 14 hours, therefor it dose not kill them. But you can use baby oil for loosening the lice's grip on the hair. So if you have short hair I would say about 30 minutes, If medium length hair then leave in for 1 hour and for long hair leave in for 2-3 hours. After it is soaked in the oil then you must take a fine tip metal nit comb to comb them out.
Some home remedies for head lice are: Mayonnaise Vaseline t tree oil vinegar nutrigena shampoo- leave in for 10 minutes come it out for 7 days
Yes. More than enough. As long as you were thourough with applying the mayo - that's plenty of time.
I have used olive oil to get rid of head lice. Instead of using the typical pesticides, I slathered on some olive oil and let it sit for 20-30 minutes. Then using a fine tooth comb to get rid of the lice and nits. Shampoo the oil out of the hair. It may take a couple of latherings. Hair will be super soft. Repeat the process in a couple of weeks just to make sure the critters are not returning. The oil smothers the lice and makes the nits easy to remove.
in some cases it is only good for preventing them since they do not like the smell.. but in this it must be 100% tea tree oil.. it is however likely that it will kill them if you leave it on your head or leave it in a shower cap on your head overnight
It smothers them. They can only survive in oil for up to two hours.
It has worked for us! My #2 daughter came home with adult lice in her hair. First I covered her head in baby oil. Some say mayo or petrolum but mayo can turn rancid and be a health problem for kidos. And petrolum well enough said. Anyway, cover head with baby oil or coconut oil, wrap with plastic wrap leave on for at least 2 hours. I washed it out with dawn dishsoap. It may take 2 washings. Then I washed again with regular shampoo with 5 drops of tea tree oil. Go heavy on the conditioner. Then use a nit comb. I did find a wonderfull tea tree shampoo at the health food store called Jasons. The entire family now uses it on a regular basis. Every morning I braid her hair and we have a 12oz spray bottle with water and 6 drops of oil in it with which I spray her hair. I do also spray with hairspray occasionally. To keep the hair up and to keep lice from having a place to attatch. We are now on day 5 and no more lice. I was lucky that in the midst of all this we went camping for 4 days. Lice couldn't live in the house with no one home. If you have long hair, make sure you tie your hair up as well when washing or combing hair.
Tea tree oil
No! Do not treat a sofa with Lysol to get rid of lice. Try using 100% Pure Tea Tree Oil and water. Use 10 Drops per 2oz of water in a spray bottle. Spray everywhere that has been possibly infected with lice or their nits (eggs). Let sit for a half hour to an hour, then vaccum. The more you vacuum, the more you cut down on nits and possible re-infestation. Also it is a good idea to take stuffed animals and decorative pillows and tightly bag them for 2-3 weeks or until lice are completely gone. To get rid of lice on your head, here's something that worked for me and my family. Take 2 teaspoons of Tea Tree Oil and Mix with 7 Tablespoons of Olive Oil in a sqeezy bottle, similar to those used in dye kits. Saturate Hair, leave in overnight. Nits slide off easily with Olive Oil. Wash hair with baby shampoo then comb with nit comb. You can put conditioner in to make it easier to comb through hair if you want. You can also just use Tea Tree Oil and Water too. Same idea as listed above for spraying the house. Only, saturate hair, put on shower cap, leave on for an hour. Saturate again, comb out nits/lice. Wash with baby shampoo or even a shampoo with tea tree and peppermint oils. Up to you.
Yes.... If you leave the mixture long enough - the two will separate.
