Wait at least 2 hours. Your artist will tell you how long to leave the bandage on. Listen to them! When you do take the bandage off, clean the area with mild soap and water using your fingers and pat dry with paper towels. DO NOT USE A WASHCLOTH OR BATHROOM TOWEL TO WASH OR DRY YOUR NEW TATTOO! Allow the tattoo to air dry for several minutes before applying any ointment or lotion and only use a small amount. A little goes a long way. Frequently apply small amounts of unscented lotion that does not contain alcohol or sunblock.

As the blood dries it will hold to the bandage, and it is very painful to remove it. My advice is to cover the wound when needed, but leave it uncovered whenever possible.
