It depends on the type of dye you are using. Most permanent dyes process in about 25-30 minutes. I would imagine most semi- and demi-permanent dyes are about the same. If you are using a vegetable dye (such as manic panic, special effects, or henna) you may leave on as long as you want, from 30 minutes to overnight. It does not contain chemicals that alter your natural hair color, but instead deposit color over the natural color that washes out over time.
30 min

Most importantly, you should check the manufacturer's direction for processing times as they can differ from color line to color line. But in general, when depositing color, it should process on the hair 20-30 mins and up to 45 mins when covering gray.
Be careful heating your bleached hair, as is can fry your hair depending on the brand.
When you bleach your hair you're stripping it of color. Once you bleach a part, you shouldn't need a touch up, so just do the roots. Bleaching the same hair over and over again will make it look dry, brittle, and dead. If you must bleach over the same hair again, don't do it more than twice. You will be more prone to split ends and heat damage, because bleaching makes hair lose its strength, and there is nothing to do to repair damage, so don't be scammed by products that claim to "repair" or "restructure" damaged hair. You just have to wait for healthy hair to grow in and grow long enough to take its place. Make sure you use a good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner if you bleach, you'll need it. Also sunprotectant shampoo and conditioner may be an option to prevent greenish discoloration. For really deep conditioning that may save the appearance only, not composition (nothing can be done about that) apply olive oil generously all over clean hair. Lightly dampen a hand towel, and heat the towel in the microwave for about 45 seconds. Wrap your hair in it and let it sit for 5 minutes. Heat the towel again and wrap. I heat and wrap about 6 - 10 times depending on time. The heat will open up the hair cuticle and allow the oil to penetrate to make it smooth and soft. Shampoo lightly and condition. Depending on how much damage you have, it will make your hair softer, silkier, and shinier. It also significantly helps prevent split ends. I try and do this at least once a week. Don't forget to get regular little trims (1/4 - 1/2 inch should be enough) every 6- 8 weeks to keep your ends from looking dead.
You should wait about a week
