i got my belly button pierced a couple of months ago and when i first changed it it was sore for about 4 daiis or so, but it depends how long you've waited and what your body is like, but just make sure it doesn't get infected!

∙ 16y agoIf you waited the standard one to three months then it shouldn't hurt at all unless you upped the gauge. If you didn't wait long enough then you probably just infected it and need to treat it as fresh piercing for the next one to three months. If you did everything properly you need to see your piercer as you may have done something wrong and twisted, pulled or otherwise injured your piercing.

∙ 15y agoYour navel piercing can remain sore for up to a week depending on how your body reacts to it, how well you take care of it, and whether or not it sustains injury. To avoid injury, wear long shirts, so that your shirts don't get caught on the jewelry, wear loose jeans, and avoid too much bending over for the first six weeks. I just got mine does yesterday and I bent over a few times and it stings so much, but then again I still have that band aid thing stuck over it but luckily I can remove it tonight. Can't wait to finally see my piercing.

I know this, as my daughter was stupid enough to pierce her own belly ... but the doctor treated it easily, so you should be fine.

First, let me warn you- DO NOT POP THIS SORE OR BUBBLE! It will bleed and only cause it to grow larger. Second, the best thing you can do is go back to the piercer. Have them check it out and give you their advice. Perhaps you are not cleaning it often enough, or not cleaning it with the right tools. So to answer your question specifically, sores and bumps could clear up anywhere from two weeks to over a year, depending on how you handle the situation. Please be wise about this and seek out professional help!
