Depends on the species of palm. Species such as the date palm (Phoenix dactylifera) can live up to 80 years, and the Canary Island Palm (Phoenix canariensis) to at least 120 years.

Some other species will only live a few years, such as the Bamboo palm (Chrysalodocarpus), which is multi-stemmed, each stem only survives for about 4 years before dying and being replaced by new stems.

a palm tree will take 3 to 6 months to grow from seed, but will take about 15 years to grow to an adult size. to grow to a potted sized tree it will take about 6 years.
