Actually, there isn't (and can't be) direct ship service from New York to London since London is inland and the River Thames isn't large enough to handle oceangoing cruise ships. Most trans-Atlantic service docks in Southampton; it takes (very roughly) a couple of hours by train or motorcoach to go from there to London itself. The only regularly scheduled trans-Atlantic passenger service is provided by Cunard's Queen Mary 2, which makes the trip in about 5 days. Other lines offer transatlantic trips on so-called "positioning voyages", when a ship is moved from its winter runs in (e.g.) the Mediterranean to a summer posting in the Caribbean. These ships are not specifically designed for transocean cruising so they travel more slowly; a crossing might take 7 or 8 days.

The record for crossing the Atlantic by sea is by Cat-Link V - New York to Bishop Rock 2 days, 20 hrs 9 mins - its quicker going eastwards. The Queen Mary 2 does the westward journey in around 6 days, if you go by freighter it takes around 14 days.
