When I got facial flushing from a cortisone shot, it lasted about four days with the second day being the worst. I noticed that I looked sunburned and my face was swollen about 24 hours after the shot. I did not want the side effects of Benedryl, so I just took Aleve and it helped. My face actually felt burned, so I put lotion on it. It was a bit embarrassing to look so red in the face, but it all subsided over about 4 days and the shot brought enormous relief to my shoulder.
