The half-life of ibuprofen is approximately 2 hours. This means that after 2 hours, only half of the active dose is still present in your system. After 6 hours (3 half-lives) there's 1/8th left of the original dose in your system, which is not enough to perceive any effects. After one day (12 half-lives) there's only 1/4096th left, or practically none.

Ibuprofen should not be an issue on a drug test. Although it can cause false positives for marijuana, the amount needed is far above the six tablets a day that are recommended for pain relief.

The length of time that 800 mg of Ibuprofen will stay in your system depends on factors such as your weight, how often you take the medication and whether you are male or female. However, Ibuprofen is metabolized by the body at a fast rate and is then excreted from the body through urine, so that amount should only stay in your system for up to 24 hours.
