The Humming bird nest that we have on our deck this year appears to be made from a papery creation. I am guessing perhaps a sugar substance and feathers and other materials. Slightly larger than a Golf ball, and looking like an English walnut it was "stuck" onto a metal plant hook for the season, until the 2 eggs hatched.

A hummingbirds nest is very small about the size of half an a walnut shell. The outer part is made with moss and plant fibers. Sometimes it is shingled with lichens. The rest is made of plant down and spider webs.
Out of twigs, small sticks, feathers, leaves you know the usual stuff.

At my house a humming bird built a nest right in a tree by my porch. It let me get just inches away from it and it didn't fly off! I observed how this bird built it's nest....

First, it gathered materials that were soft such as it's down, plant fibers, cobwebs, and even dried paint off the house. It bunched these together in a circle and built upon it until it looked like an average nest but much smaller and it resembled a small cup. Next, the bird took fibers and cobwebs and wrapped them around the nest and the branch the nest perched on to secure it in case of harsh weather. It continued to do this for days until the nest suited the bird.

The female hummingbird uses almost her entire body to create her nest. She'll carry back materials to the nest site using her beak but she'll also tuck materials (such as fur, lint, and lichen) between her chin and chest.

Once at the nest site, she'll use her wings to help shape the nest, flattening it by sitting on it and molding it with her feet as well. She'll even collect spider webs as "glue" to hold the nest together.

I read it's right around a couple of weeks. Usually they lay two eggs, at times one, and rarely three, which would cause difficulty in caring for that many young.
