A dog is considered to be in adulthood at 1 year of age although they seem to still be adolescent like until about 3years. Technically dogs are puppies until 9mo. young dogs until 15mo. then adults.
It depends on the breed of dog. Smaller dogs, like Chihuahuas and yorkies, will reach maturity faster, at around 18 months. Most dogs reach maturity at around 2 years. Giant breeds such as Great Danes or Great Pyrenese will not reach maturity till the age of 3 years.
Because they are larger dogs, labs don't get out of the puppy stage until they are about two years old.
It has nothing to do with their size, its just the dogs temperament and how the dog is, most labs don't get out of the puppy stage until they are around 3 years old.
When they are trained enough and old enough to be a mature dog.
A dog is an adult at 2 years old!
1 years old (I think)
In approximately 2 human years
give both dogs equal amounts of love
No as long as the adult dog is not hurting the puppy let them play
You should stop feeding your dog puppy food when it reaches about 1 year. A typical puppy will reach adult size when its about 8-12 months.
What you need to do is get an empty spray bottle and fill it with water. When the puppy or dog bites you, you spray it. it should stop bitting you.Whenever the dog bites you spray it as said
It depends upon whether you want to have an adult lap dog. Whatever behavior the puppy gets used to and views as normal and acceptable will not stop once the dog ages. If you don't want a dog that jumps onto furniture or into your lap once it's grown, do NOT allow that to happen while it's a puppy. Always play with the puppy or pet the puppy at its own level - on the floor.
Make the puppy seem like fun to be around. To the dog, he will associate being around the puppy with fun and happiness. Give him(11yo dog) treats and praise when the puppy is with you
Grabbing a dog or puppy by the throat can cause some serious health problems. Your dog or puppy can get a broken or injured jaw, or can have a hard time breathing or swallowing. It is never safe to grab a dog or puppy by the throat, this is know as dog abuse and could be reported. If you are using this as a punishment, it's better if you stop. Start using a punishment as time out, or get your dog/puppy some training.
no becoz the puppy will get use to the other dog and when it dies it will be lonley and u will hav to get another dog but if u get it after it will be use to being alone
Just show them both the same amount of love every day don't just love on the new dog all the time give them both love and show her she is not being replaced.
Tell the dog 'no'. When he becomes submissive to you, give him lots of attention to let him know that a new puppy will not make your friendship any lesser.
If your puppy, or adult dog for that matter, is barking constantly, it is usually an indication that the dog is bored and is not getting enough exercise or mental challenges, so try taking the dog for regular walks and maybe training.
Give it more attention and love and care for it, and especially give it some comfort everyday and hopefully it will get used to you. Then you will be able to have a normal dog instead of a scared timid dog.
