A train has brakes similar to a car at every wheel (friction brakes), and also can use its locomotive power to apply a braking force (called dynamic braking). If any train wheels lock-up (stop moving) the sliding wheels do not slow the train as quickly as they are designed to do. In the US, modern locomotives use computerized braking systems, as do passenger trains. Freight cars are limited to the friction brakes and often this is where you may see a set of train wheels lock-up when they shouldn't.
It depends on three variables:
1. The weight of the train
2. The speed the train is travelling at
3. The effeective braking force of the train
At any given speed, about 4 times as long as a truck or bus.
The limit is the coefficient of friction of steel on steel (.25) compared to rubber on asphalt (1).
That depends on its mass, the track gradient and conditions, and the braking applied.
The subway does not go as far as Rochester in Kent. You would need to go by train and it will probably take about an hour.
By far the cheapest way is the subway. It costs $2.25, to date (October 6, 2009), plus the $5 you will need for the shuttle. It's also pretty convenient. The shuttle train (called the AirTrain) takes you from JFK airport to the A train. The A train goes straight through Times Square, (as do most of the subway lines: Times Square Station is the biggest subway nexus in the city).
3 feet
Grand central is not that far from the Empire State Building. You could walk it with no problem.
352 m
literally one stop, about 10 minutes tops
depends how long the train has being going backwards at 0.5m's,an the train didn't stop after it went backwards, ever changing answer
From JFK you can take the air-tram to the Howard Beach/JFK airport stop on the A subway line. That is an express train that goes to 34th street-penn station. Getting off at this stop puts you directly in Penn Station, all you have to do is follow the signs. If you are coming from Penn Station going to JFK airport, make sure to get a on JFK/Far Rockaway bound A train, there are 3 different A trains.
By far the cheapest way is the subway. Subway fare is $2.50 for a Single Ride Ticket (or $2.25 per ride for a pay-per-ride Metrocard, which has a $4.50 -- 2 ride -- minimum), plus $5 for the AirTrain shuttle.First you take the AirTrain from the JFK terminals to the Howard Beach station on the A train (of the A-C-E, the blue line). Take the Uptown A train into Manhattan.
Very far, it takes more than 20 hours by train, and there is no direct train from Shijiazhuang to Yiwu, first you need to go to Hangzhou, then Yiwu. Feel free to ask me more related questions.
Bullet train by far
Maybe extremely far away. Maybe very close. You should consult the services of a train psychic, they can surely tell you the answer to "how far away are train tracks?"
