Heat the water until it boils, and then place the eggs in and keep the water boiling gently for five minutes.

Additional information:

The size of egg and personal preference are additional variables to consider. Large eggs will take longer to cook than smaller eggs. Although called "boiled eggs," the water should be kept at a simmer after eggs are added rather than boiling. (small bubbles streaming from the bottom of the pan rather than large bubbles breaking to the surface.) Some individuals consider 3 minutes the proper cooking time for soft-boiled eggs, with the egg white still partially liquid, while others prefer a 4 or 5 minute egg, with firm whites and runny or barely soft yolks.

The cooking time varies depending on your preference from anywhere between 3 to 5 minutes for soft, 8 to 10 for medium, and about 15 minutes for hard.

About 15 - 20 minutes. with a pin poke a hole in the large end of the egg shell. put the eggs in a pan with cold water. Bring the pan to a boil and simmer the eggs for 12 minutes, 15 minutes if you use jumbo eggs. Remove from the heat. If serving hot drain and serve. If cold then run eggs under cold water, (keep them covered with water) until eggs are cold to the touch then peel and serve.

The cooking time varies on how to make hard boiled eggs. First one must boil some water, enough to cover at least 80% of the egg. Once the egg is submerged in the boiling water, time it anywhere from 11 to 20 minutes depending on how runny one wants the egg yolk to be. Twenty minutes it will be hard, and eleven it will be runnier.
