Most non-permanent hair dyes will generally begin to fade after 4-6 weeks, assuming you wash your hair everyday. The color may still stain your hair, especially if it is a lot darker than your original color, however it will be very faded and lose most of it's luster after 6 weeks. Some temporary dyes will completely or almost completely fade after about 3 months.

∙ 11y agoread the box instructions, if doing it at home. I use natural insticts and it says that you can leave it on up to 6 hours! I say if you are going to leave it on that long, then go permanent.

Semi permanent color gradually fades with each shampoo. The color will last longer depending how often you shampoo. Go with a demi permanent. It will last longer than the semi and will fade out naturally. The coverage is better too.
