I broke 3 bones in my ankle April 2010. I had to have surgery & had 1 plate and 11 screws put in my ankle. It has now been 3 months since my injury & I am still having alot of swelling with my ankle. My doctor has me wearing a compression stocking to keep the swelling down & he also has me going to rehab to get the muscles moving around to help with the swelling. It's just gonna take some time with this type of injury for you to fully recover. My doctor told me it would take a full year before I would start feeling back to normal. I have had so many people tell me that I will have swelling for the next year or two. I get my boot off in two days and begin to start walking on it again. I didn't think I'd ever get to this point but am so excited to be able to start getting my normal life back. I know I still have a long ways to go before I am fully recovered and the swelling totally is gone. Hope that I helped answer your question.
it will take about 1 week
When it's healed...
I have a question? How long does the hardness and swelling of a blown vein last from using drug usage? What gets the swelling out and what the rednes?
its a broken leg. The tibia is one of the two long bones between the knee and ankle.
2 to 4 months
A typical ankle sprain can take 1-2 weeks for recovery. Depending on the severity of the injury, an ankle injury can take up to 12 weeks to heal. It is recommended to keep the ankle elevated, iced, and keep your weight of the injured ankle.
6 hours
Following tooth extraction swelling can last up to a week.
Keep weight off of the ankle, keep it elevated when resting, alternate heat and cold to reduce swelling, apply a supportive wrap when walking is required, and do gentle stretches (as long as they don't cause any pain) to keep the ankle from getting stiff.
A tightening around the ankle usually indicates swelling. Swollen ankles are common for those who walk or stand a lot. Feet and ankles that stay swollen for long periods of time, or are accompanied by other symptoms should be checked by a physician.
No longer than 3 or 4 days.
