Assuming you are not a regular long-term smoker nicotine will stay in your system for about 72-96 hours. If you are a long-term smoker it takes much longer for the nicotine to leave your system.

There are a few factors which determine how long tobacco can be detected in your blood. One factor is how long and how heavy of a smoker the person was. The other main factor is the type of test being used. Based on these factors, tobacco can be detected in the blood for anywhere from a few days to several months.
