If this is for a life insurance or health package, I believe they use quantification of saliva based cotinene (a tobacco smoke metabolite) This has a half life of 24 hours so give it a week and chemically smoking will not show up without expensive testing. There are of course other ways your doctor will be able to tell that you smoke however.
