Depends on the strength. A 10mg will kick in around 30 to 60 minutes after ingesting and last about 4-6 hrs. It stays in your system for over 100+ hours, although the effects are gone after 6 hrs.

Diazepam is a benzodiazepine drug that may be prescribed to treat anxiety disorder, panic attacks and seizures. How long diazepam stays in the system depends on a variety of factors such as how much of the drug you were prescribed, how long you have been taking it for and your body's ability to rid itself of the drug. Diazepam has a half life of between 20 and 200 hours, meaning that is how long it takes the body to rid itself of half of the drug. It could take several weeks or months until the last trace of the drug leaves the body.
