Foods that are left out in room temperature for more than an hour can begin bacteria growth. Our stomach acids can kill some of these bacterias but not all and some can make you very sick. Keep foods OUT of the danger zone- Above 45 degrees and Below 145 degrees. Between these temperatures bacteria lives and breeds on our foods.

If you bought Jelly from the store, they can stay fresh for quite a while, as they include preservatives. Try searching for an expiration date on the jar if it has one.

If just opened, then no longer than a month even if the expiration date is far off, otherwise it can get liquidy or chunky. If unopened than it can stay a while on your refrigerator shelf.

I normally go for the top shelf, just to make sure it doesn't get damaged.

Does jelly spoil in the heat?

Jelly can spoil. It can grow mold. If it does, throw it out. If it hasn't been processed or sealed properly or the sugar content is low, it can ferment. Throw out fermented jelly, too. The best way to store unopened jelly is in a cool, dark, dry area. After opening, store it in the refrigerator.
