Health Canada and Canadian Pediatric Society recommend babies receive only breastmilk up to six months of age and then continue to receive breastmilk with the addition of solid foods up to 2 years of age and beyond.
Most medical authorities promote the recommendation that a mother exclusively breast feed her child for the first six months. After that nursing with other foods should continue at least until the child is one year old. At what point a child should be weaned is solely up to the mother. Worldwide, the average age of weaning is about 3 to 4 years old. In general, the longer a mother nurses her child the better both for the child and her own health. As the old Vulcan saying goes; "Nurse long and prosper".

You should nurse the baby every time he/she is hungry. The baby will suck his fist, stick out his tongue, or get fussy when he's hungry. A newborn will likely want to nurse every two hours. If you use a bottle for some of the feedings, you should pump at the same time the baby eats. This will encourage your breasts to make milk in the right quantities and at the right times for your child.

It depends on how much food they are eating. I breastfed 4 babies. The second one did not eat anything other than breast milk for 11 months. With him, it was basically on demand and based on how long he nursed. It was up to him but you should be able to tell. He was always in the 90th percentile for growth and is now 6'2", 200 lbs. He has always been healthy. My last child I nursed til he was a little over 3 years. He was eating food when he was about 10 months old but also nursed in the morning, at nap, and at bedtime. There were also other times when he wanted to nurse. The key is your baby.

In the beginning, your body will over produce milk and you will probably leak. Your body is not sure of how much the baby will require so it makes sure it has enough. Then as your baby nurses, your body recognizes how much milk he or she is taking and slowly adjusts to the need. So your body is in sync with your baby. At 8 months old, if not eating baby or other foods, your baby will probably require several nursings throughout the day as breast milk is easily digested. My suggestion if you can is allow them to nurse as often as they want. This is not indulgent and will not make your baby fat. Breast milk is wonderful and made specifically for your baby's needs. It is also great for overall health. My children are rarely sick and are in excellent health, now 21, 19, 17 and 5

In the first few weeks you may need to breastfeed your baby every 2 to 3 hours. So over a 24 hour period, your baby will feed 8 to12 times in just one day.

How should a mother remove the baby from the breast?

A baby should be removed from the breast only after it has had its fill of breast milk for the moment. Often times the baby will show it is done eating by falling asleep peacefully and quietly knowing it is loved by a caring mother who is giving it the very best.

Can breast feed baby and husband at sametime?

A healthy woman should be able to both nurse her baby and also share her breast milk with her husband. Of course, it is the baby who must be fed first. But if she is in good health and is eating properly, a nursing mother can easily produce enough milk for her husband to enjoy the intimacy and closeness of breast feeding. Speaking from personal experience, this will build the marriage relationship for both husband and wife.

What plant did the nurse use to wean baby Juliet from romeo Juliet?

Wormwood. The nurse says, "But, as I said, when it did taste the wormwood on my nipple of my dug and felt it bitter, pretty fool, to see it tetchy and fall out with the dug." Wormwood is bitter and when baby Juliet tasted it on the nurse's breast (that's what "dug" means), she lost interest in breastfeeding. She and the breast have a cooling of affection; that's what "fall out with" means.
