I don't have an answer based on fact, however my pet rat sleeps most of the day, and is up most of the night. Just want to add that people have the wrong perception of rats. They can make wonderful pets. The one I have is very affectionate and fun to play with. I usually take him out in the early evening.
Viper1 How long the rat sleeps depends on the rat my rats, dutchess and sue, sleep most of the day and stay up during the night. You as the owner need to determine when they are sleeping more than usual. if they start to sleep more than usual contact an exotics vet right away!!!

∙ 15y agoa pet rat can sleep in alot of things that are in its cage. my rat sleeps in a tissue box which has one side of it cut off and in there, is some tissue for it to sleep on.
