How long to recover from broken tibia and fibula broken how long before recovery?

Answer:

I had a bad accident in November 2008 and broke both fibulas and my right tibia. It is now late April 2009 and while I can certainly walk on both legs at pretty normal speed and ride a stationary bike, I am not fully recovered. I still have quite a bit of pain in the leg that had the broken tibia and I have not been cleared to run again by my orthopedist. Let me just say, it can be a very long recovery depending on the severity of the injury. I have an IM nail in my tibia and sometimes I wonder if that isn't actually causing some of the remaining pain. Originally my doctor said it would take about 10-12 months to be fully back to normal. Now I believe it.
