Inner or outer?
The time it takes to replace a tie rod in a Buick varies with the age of the vehicle and whether this is an inner or outer tie rod. Estimated replacement time is 1 to 3 hours with a cost of about 230 dollars depending on the area and model.
Grease fittings are located at upper and lower ball joints, outer tie rod ends, inner tie rod ends, pitman arm and both ends of idler arm.
Is that inner or outer. If outer because these cars eat tie rod ends, you have to unbolt tie rod from hub, hammer out, make where tie rod is screwed ( for length ) use vise clamps and have to unscrew end. Try and be careful as to the exact location of the rod, might need some good loose nut, re-place tap in joint and tighten nut, might need an alignment after.
lift vehicle. remove front tire. loosen jam nut securing inner tie rod to outer tie rod. if equipped, remove cotter pin from outer tie rod nut, which is attached to the knuckle. next, remove outer tie rod nut.with either a hammer, or a pickle fork and hammer. separate tie rod from knuckle. unscrew outer tie rod from inner tie rod. alignment is a must after job is finished.
Lay under the front while having someone turn the wheel back and forth, replace whatever parts have play in them.
Either the wheel is out of balance or the rotors are warped slightly. Check your outer Tie Rod Ends as well.....replace them if neccesary.
