Because dumplings are cooked with the chicken and broth then on the third day it should be thrown out. If you don't feel you will be eating it again after your first meal of it, put it in Glad Bags or a container and freeze. Frozen meat that has been thoroughly cooked can be frozen again. 'When in doubt, throw it out!'

Plan to use frozen chicken and dumplings within a couple months. It might last longer, but why push it.

As a general rule I don't eat anything that's more than 4 days old, less if it wasn't properly refrigerated.
