6-8 months is the rule of thumb for frozen raw meats. However, I wouldn't keep deer meat or other wild game meats for more than 4 months as well as frozen cooked meats. Some people say a year is fine, but I think better safe than sorry. Meat can be frozen for months, as long as it is used as soon as you defrost it, and don't refreeze it. It varies depending on the type of meat. See the following link for specifics: http://www.fsis.usda.gov/FactSheets/Focus_On_Freezing/index.asp
This depends on how it was stored in the first place. Is it in the original wrapping? Was it vacuum packed.
"Freezer burn" is dehydration from sublimation. It does not make the meat bad but the flavor and texture will be different. Marinating helps that.
Rewrapped and double wrapped beef/pork/chicken will last 4-12 months frozen.
You should always freeze meat in a sealed container; preferably in a zip lock freezer storage bag. To avoid wasting food because you can't remember when you put it in the freezer, mark the date on the bag with a permanent marker. Another suggestion is to tape the following list somewhere on the freezer door; for instance just on the inside of the door where the label is.
I let a steak defrost in the fridge (although ours is fairly cold) and the steak lasted 10 days.
Cooked frozen meat should be good for years. However, it will lose quality the longer it is frozen and may get freezer burn.
4hours give or take
It will depend on whether you intend to keep the meat frozen once you reach your destination or whether you intend to use it soon. The meat will stay good as long as you keep it as cold as possible. To keep it frozen, you should pack it firmly in ice in a cooler.
in a meat freezer
For a long as you like as long as the meat stays completely frozen. Some mammoth carcasses have been found that have been frozen for tens of thousands of years and the meat still exists.
To keep a longer life, when the meat is frozen the bacteria is killed and can no longer reproduce.
A week is a little long to keep the meat refrigerated. You can be sure it will be good for 3 to 5 days. To keep it longer, you should freeze the meat.
20 years
ive had meat in my freezer for about 6 months and its been great.
You can keep meat frozen in the freezer for months, though it is possible that it could thaw out if there was a power outage for a long period of time.
Vacuum sealed hamburger meat that is frozen can last 2 to 3 months. When it is thawed, it shouldn't be kept in the refrigerator more than a couple days.
Once meat is in a FROZEN STATE than it can be good for about a year.
Poultry meat must be frozen to keep it preserved, as it is no longer considered suitable for consumption after 10 days in the fridge.
