ANSWER:Unless frozen, shrimp breaks down rather rapidly. If you peel and de-vein, and soak in salted water, you can keep shrimp in a 34.5 degree refrigerator for up to 4 days. After that the shrimp will spoil. Fresh shrimp and fresh seafood should have no odor when purchased fresh and the eyes should be clear and not clouded.

Raw meats do not last long in the refrigerator. Meats that are not going to be eaten in a few days should be frozen and not stored in the refrigerator.Place raw meats in freezer bags or paper or an airtight container. Then freeze them for up to 2 years.

Cooked shrimp should not be left unrefrigerated for more than two hours. Less time is better. In fact, if the ambient temperature is around 90°F, cut that time to less than 1 hour.

I'd say by the time it hits room temperature, forget it. Raw shrimp should be iced right from the catch. The fat content makes them a splendid bacterial medium.

How long does it take for shrimp to spoil?

I would say, if you left shrimp in your car outside...then it would take 2 hours to spoil, if you live somewhere warmer then maybe about 30 minutes.....If you refrigerate it and leave the shrimp in there...it would take about a week to spoil....I always suggest if you KNOW you aren't gonna eat it for a while, wrap up your shrimp or something and store it in your freezer... it keeps EVERYTHING fresh :)
