***I had my son at 35 1/2 wks and he weighed 6 lbs 2 oz and he got to come home when I did I had him on Friday and brought him home on Sunday
Til they weigh 5lbs unless they have other medical issues that have to be addressed.
If you mean "how long"? it depends on the health of the mother and baby, and if it is her first, second or later, and how much help she has at home. Most mothers and babies who are healthy and have help at home can go home when they want to. A first time Mum may want to stay a little longer for professional help with breast-feeding, but many Mums with a child at home will want to go as soon as possible. Of course if the baby was born by c-section the doctors will have to be satisfied with the mother's progress before she goes home, and if the baby is sick it may stay in a lot longer. Years ago first time Mums were in hospital for 10 days and even second time around it was a week, but most want to go home as soon as they can nowadays. Perhaps not such a good thing, as they go back to caring almost immediately rather than having the rest they should have.
If premature babies are born in hospitals they are placed in incubators where they may eventually grow to normal size and be released to their mother's care, but sometimes a very premature baby cannot be saved. If there is less medical care available, then the chances of survival are less.
It really varies based on how premature the baby is. If a baby is born very premature for example, 24 weeks gestation (6 months along), it needs to be nursed in the NICU for at least 2 1/2 to 3 months, and sometimes much longer. The baby needs to be able to breath on his own, tolerate feedings, maintain body temperature in an open crib/bassinette and show positive weight gain. So in the end, it really all depends on each individual case.
You really need to think about what you want to say when you ask a question: A 32 week premature baby would be an embryo. IF you meant a baby born at 32 weeks (which is technically an EIGHT WEEK premature baby) then you should have said that. Also, a due date is an approximation, you can deliver a full term baby two weeks before or after. So, now you are talking about a 6 week premature baby. How long it stays in the hospital depends completely upon that baby's condition. If it is over 5lbs with no lung problems I hope that your nursery is ready.
It really depends on how premature the baby is. If the Baby is months early then the baby would probably be in the hospital for a good few weeks until he or she has reached a healthy stage.
an incubator in hospital
They give the premature baby a special kind of milk to help them gain weight. Sometimes, premature babies have to stay in the hospital for a long time. They have to be at least 5 pounds to leave.
As long as they stay babies is how long they stay babies.
It's because they are underweight. Premature babies are smaller than full term babies and are more fraigile. That is why preemies have to stay in the hospital depending on their size and weight because they need to gain more weight until they are at least five lbs so they are less fraile. A very skinny baby with ribs showing is not a healthy weight for a newborn baby so weight gain is nessisary for undeweight or preemie babies.
well.... that is the maximum amout of time a woman carries a baby in the womb. However, babies have been delivered premature and have survived as well. But, when that happens, they stay in the hospital for a couple more days for observation.
Patients who have had a vagotomy stay in the hospital for about seven days.
There are numerous diseases that will require a long hospital stay. Some are cancers, AIDS, TB, respiratory diseases, and many more.
the babies will stay for only a week.
