The first recorded infection was in the 1960's and the man who had it died. His blood was kept because no one knew what he died from, but in the 1980's HIV was discovered, but there was no cure and research was just starting. The 1990's more research was getting funds and became an important issue. Finally, a variety of treatments were available.
Today, doctors recommend being tested at 6 month intervals.
The PCR Test (Polymerase Chain Reaction) test can yield results in as little as 2-3 weeks after infection. PCR testing is not often offerred to adults as it's complex and costly to perform, but if you're willing to pick up the tab, you can get one, and they're faster. The HIV Antibody Test (or ELISA test, for Enzyme-Linked ImmunoSorbent Assay) is more frequently performed. The results usually take 8-12 weeks, and in very rare instances, can require up to 18 months to yield results. Taking the ELISA test before three months after exposure may not provide enough time for antibodies to form, so results will either be positive or inconclusive. This 3-month span is called the Window Period, and you are encouraged not to have unsafe sex or share needles, etc. during this period. In cases of high risk, the windo period may be extended to six months, before the ELISA test commences. AIDS of course occurs after HIV. Unlike HIV, which is a virus, AIDS is a syndrome - a group of rare maladies that seem to appear only in the presence of the AID Syndrome. Presence of these syptomatic pathologies (Kaposi's Sarcoma, Pneumonia carini [sic] karini, Thrush, etc.) indicate AIDS.
it takes a general of 10-14 days if one is going for a normal hiv antibody test...if it is not that way..like urine tests are also avialable...and one can also go for a home hiv tool kit test...it will take only 20 mins...with accurate results....max period is 14 days...minimum is 20 mins.
This depends on the type of test you use to test for HIV.
Your doctor or sexual health clinic will give you information on the options available.
Some clinics provide 'rapid' tests that can give a result within 20 minutes. Other tests may take an hour.
Routine bloods tests can take anything from a few days to two weeks depending on the laboratory service that is being used.
Usually just a few days is all it takes to get the test results.
Well HIV is known as the "Silent Killer" and for a reason. Some people don't show any symptoms at all! But usually give or take 6 months to show the first symptom like a flu or something
Processing times for HIV tests vary depending on the lab. In most instances, 2 weeks is a standard wait time for confirmatory test result processing in this area.
2 weeks
3 days.
actually if you go to the nearest health clinic they would be happ to give you a test and they have new sensitive test where you can get your results within a week or two so your in luck!!! Ariel
It doesn't. It's with you for life. Most people die from Aids
You go to a health clinic, or hospital, then they take a small sample of blood and test it, then they tell you the results.
You do not necessarily have a burning sensation upon urination with AIDS. You may be confusing AIDS with syphilis and or gonorrhea.jpeppe7
