Chris Chelios of the Detroit Red Wings is of Greek descent. The original spelling of Chelios is "Tselios." Nikos Tselios, a cousin of Chelios, played two NHL games in 2001-02 for the Carolina Hurricanes.
Other Greeks in the NHL that are not players are Ted Leonsis (owner of the Washington Capitals) and Peter Karmanos (owner of the Carolina Hurricanes). Karmanos' youngest son Jason served as the Hurricanes' Vice President from 1998-2007.
