There is one temple in Temple Square, that is the Salt Lake Temple. There are other buildings on and around Temple Square, these include two visitors centers, the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, the Church Office Building, the Tabernacle (where the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sings), the Assembly Hall, the Conference Center, the family history center, the church museum of history and art, and the church history and archives building. There are other temples in the Salt Lake City area, but the closest is about 20 miles away. These are the Bountiful Utah Temple, the Jordan River Utah Temple, the Draper Utah Temple, and the Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple. You might also include the Ogden Utah, Mount Timpanogos Utah, and Provo Utah Temples. You can learn more about visiting Temple Square at www.visittemplesquare.com.

You can learn more about the other temples in the Salt Lake City area at www.ldschurchtemples.com/temples, and then clicking the one you would like to see.

If you are referring to temples of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) there are 13. These are St. George, Logan, Manti, Salt Lake, Ogden, Provo, Jordan River (in South Jordan), Vernal, Bountiful, Mount Timpanogos (in American Fork), Monticello, Draper, and Oquirrh Mountain (in South Jordan). There are also Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish, and Sikh temples in Utah.

There are currently four LDS Temples in the Salt Lake Valley:

Salt Lake Temple in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City

Jordan River Temple near the center of the valley in South Jordan

Draper Temple in the south east foothills in Draper

Oquirrh Mountain Temple in the south west suburbs in South Jordan

There are additional temples nearby in the Salt Lake metro area, but not in the valley:

Bountiful Temple on the east bench in Bountiful

Ogden Temple in Ogden city center

Mount Timpanogos Temple in American Fork

Provo Temple on the east bench in Provo

and two under construction: Provo City Center and Payson

One. The Salt Lake Temple is the only temple in Salt Lake City limits. Other temples nearby (within an hour's drive) are Draper, Mount Timpanogos, Provo, Jordan River, Oquirrh Mountain, Bountiful, and Ogden.

Please note that an LDS Temple is not the same as an LDS church meetinghouse.

None. There are no 'Mormon' churches in Salt Lake City. Actually there are no 'Mormon' churches on the earth.

What state has the most Mormon temples?

Utah is home to the most temples of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) with 16 (three of which are under construction as of July 2012). Other states with a lot of temples are California (7 temples), Arizona (5 temples), Idaho (5 temples), Texas (4 temples), and Washington (3 temples). Most other states have one or two. 15 states do not yet have temples of their own. Please note that Mormon Temples are different than churches/meetinghouses. Mormon Temples are only for special ceremonies, but meetinghouses are where regular Sunday worship is held. Utah has between 2,000 and 3,000 meetinghouses, each housing from 1 to 4 congregations. California and Idaho have the next highest numbers, with about 400-500 meetinghouses each.
