Currently the number is 435, (but posting an answer such as that is nearly useless without a date included to indicate just when the number is considered "current"). The number can change from time-to-time, based on the population of the states. The driving force for such change is the national census taken each decade, as required by the Constitution. That is one reason, among others, why accurate census numbers are important.
